La Téranga

Recommended for dinner in Saint-Claude! Not all goods (read on), would normally rate 4 stars, but they deserve 5 for exceptional service - plus there is not much better in the city. Service:.*****+ Food: ***1/2 Decor: *** Last night, we were hoping for a table at Le Mot de la Faim, but they were full booked. Our unexpected back-up was La Teranga, a wonderful surprise! We felt very welcome as tourists. - service cannot get much better. Very friendly and attentive staff. They try their best at English, as we do at French, which worked fine. The host is everywhere and never slips. The junior waiter is less experienced but tries his very best. - the decor is basic, not very exciting. You can sit on the terrace or inside (airco). Inside was good. Tip: put some light music on - the menu is limited. The food was decent, not great. We had: * Tartare du boeuf: average, a bit too warm and lacking structure. The egg yolk smothered the tartare and did not mix well. I have had far better in France. * Gambas: fresh, good taste * Filet de boeuf: good, the sides (a few haricots verts, carrot slices, fries) were a bit poor * Salade Jurassiene: average, the individual ingredients are ok but the combination was not great. Especially the cooked cubed ham tasted bland and did not add much to the dish * Dessert: terrific! Coupe colonel with lemon ice cream and vodka, and the Chocolate ice cream, yum * Wine selection is good, we had the Sancerre

Première expérience. Super accueil . Cuisine excellente et raffinée. Salle très agréable. Je recommande vivement.Nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir.

Personnel sympathique mais ils courts un peu ... Carte avec un choix restreint, des plats simples bons et bien cuisinés avec choix des garnitures reste à améliorer les desserts ...

Ce restaurant offre une expérience mitigée. D'un côté, le personnel est vraiment accueillant et attentif, ce qui rend le service agréable et chaleureux. L’équipe est souriante et fait de son mieux pour que les clients se sentent bien. En revanche, les prix sont assez élevés par rapport à ce qui est proposé dans l’assiette. Bien que la cuisine soit correcte, elle ne justifie pas vraiment les tarifs pratiqués. On ressort avec l’impression que le rapport qualité-prix n’est pas à la hauteur. C’est un endroit où l'on est bien reçu, mais où le coût dépasse un peu les attentes pour ce type de repas. Les chiens sont acceptés en terrasse.

One of the best restaurants in the city. Food was good, the server could speak a little bit of English so it was possible to communicate if you are not able to speak French :) Would recommend you to make a reservation well in advance and to take 2-3 dishes
